What’s more enchanting than a home nestled in the hills with fabulous views of the entertainment capital? For a family who cooks together, it’s a larger kitchen. So I created one large kitchen out of a space that once contained two separate rooms.
This larger space created some significant challenges. First, though we removed a wall, we were still stuck with a 4’0 wide structural wall – right in the middle of the kitchen! Second, the kitchen needed an eating area. Third, a danger for all large kitchens, the working triangle could not get too spread out, or the kitchen would not be functional – just big.
To solve these problems, I created a kitchen within kitchen – a U-shaped island.
